Steam Tug "Joffre"

This model was built from a Caldercraft kit about 20 years ago. It's one of many tugs I have built over the years. It is radio controlled using 2 channels, direction and speed.

When I built the paddle steamer I bought a new radio control set - a FRSky Taranis. The reason for this was that the modern 2.4Ghz sets are often equipped with telemetry channels so that you can read what the model is doing - engine speed, temperature etc. You can also set up the transmitter with a variety of models, each one having its own peculiar settings. This allowed me to get a new receiver for the tug so that I can use the same transmitter for both models. I also had to get a new speed controller as I'd pinched the one out of the tug and put it in the paddle steamer! The tug is now back to fully working condition and I've sold the original Futaba radio control set.

"Joffre" has given me hours of fun on the pond at Roker Park and I'm sure will continue to do so.
